Call To Order
President Karen Quartaro called the meeting to order on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 12:05 P.M. at the American Legion.  Kirk Baker led the invocation and pledge.   Coke Veith was the Sgt. at Arms.

Our Greater, Richard VanLaeken introduced our visiting Rotarians and our guests.  Unfortunately, this week’s guest list is missing as of the writing of this edition of “Newark Rise.”
Wellness Report
Bob Bendix was back at Rotary last week. Welcome back, Bob!  Helmuth Reinhardt was not feeling well and could not attend last week’s meeting.  Roger VanDeMortal had just left intensive care and was coming home.
President’s Minute and Announcements

President Quartaro announced the birthdays and anniversaries for April.  Jean Bendix led the singing of “Happy Birthday.”
 
Adam Olschewske auctioned off April’s Exempt Button to Hannelora Reinhardt.
 
Adam Olschewske said Marshall Exteriors will have an Open House on May 20 and will receive a Better Business Bureau Award.
 
Michele McManus said we are still in need of hosts for the Progressive Dinner.  Please sign-up if you can host.

Committee Reports
Service: Gary Reilly said the Community Service Committee is organizing the Mobile Pantry from May to October.  It will be at the Fireman’s Field.  He thanked everyone who serves on the Committee. 
 
Membership: Kevin Mooney said the next Membership Committee meeting is Tuesday, April 11, at Parkers.  We still have seven spots open for the Placemat Ads. 
 
Doug Doebler thanked everyone for raising so much money for the Haiti Raffle. 
 
Karen Vanderbrook needs help to fill gift bags for the District Training Assembly. 
 
Happy Moments:
Steve Hallagan said Hallagan Furniture is attending a big furniture show in North Carolina.  He said “It’s a big deal.”  This is the first time they have showcased their furniture at this show. 
 
Adam Olschewske has been on the road for quite a while.
 
Fred Hicks said his son Michael was planning to perform at a concert last weekend in Ithaca.    
 
Queen of Hearts: Doug Doebler did not win, but Haiti did.
Last Week's Program
Gary Reilly introduced this week’s program presenters, Pat Albrecht, Henry Hahn, and Michele McManus.  They discussed the progress of Laurel House Comfort Care Home.  Michele discussed the next fundraiser for Laurel House, a gala on September 30 at Blue Heron Hills Golf Club.
