President's Announcements

President Holly was pleased to announce the first 5 Rotary Bingo winners - Linda Werts, Paul Salisbury, Greg Gray, MaryJo Fenyn and Steve Mooney. Keep playing - there are five more AMAZING gifts to be won!

Thanks to Gail Chambers and her crew of Rotarians the village of Newark looks great.  The flower boxes in addition to the Village hanging baskets make a beautiful Main Street. If you don’t want to get out of your car at least take a drive around town.

Jan Hence has sent out the BBQ tickets for Father’s day and is looking for 4 more workers. Please share the flyer when you see it on Facebook.

Holly asked us all to buy the tickets we were sent and donate them to our friends, considering it a personal fine.

Don’t forget the brainstorming meeting following next Thursday’s zoom.

Wellness Report

Michele McManus reported that she is doing well but a little sore following her surgery last Thursday.

Sharon SanAngelo is glad she finally had her back surgery.  She is somewhat uncomfortable but working hard to get in some walking.

Sharon and Michele sent thank you notes in appreciation for the flowers and cards they received.

Pat Albrecht experienced double vision on her way to Wegmans last week.  They have ruled out stroke and heart attack. She is wearing an eye patch and has an appointment with a neurologist on June 9th following a fall going up stairs.

Jean Williams husband has a tumor on his temporal lobe needing a 10 hour surgery.

Linda Werts daughter Sarah did well with her surgery to unblock 2 arteries.  She is requiring one more surgery for 2 more blocked arteries.

MaryJo asks us to keep her husband in our thoughts as he is dealing with a variety of illnesses including diabetes and heart disease.

Sesame Street Muppets

Last week’s President’s challenge was to share a picture of our favorite muppet.  It was interesting to hear how people identified with the characters. Fred with his ‘OBSESSIVE COOKIE DISORDER’ obviously loves the Cookie Monster!

Farewell Ramon

Due to the Coronavirus, our exchange student will be leaving earlier than planned.  Ramon’s flight to Switzerland has been moved up from July to June 11th.  Julie, Ramon’s host Mom put together a power point program depicting the many events shared with the Nevelizer family.  Ramon and his host brothers Liam and Lanon have many fond memories from his visit including - a bike ride to Chill and Grill, golfing in Phelps, Wonder Works at the Destiny mall where Ramon laid on a bed of nails, maneuvering a rope course, ping-pong, pool, pie in the face game, Bristol Mountain night skiing and indoor early morning soccer.

We all enjoyed meeting and spending time with Ramon and we wish him a safe journey home.

Happy Moments

Steve Taylor is pleased to announce grandchild #3.  James was born in New Hampshire.  Evie has gone to visit and  Steve is hoping she will return soon as he is almost out of CLEAN dishes!

Doug Forgue will be traveling to Oregon for Father’s day to visit his 2 sons.

Holly and Marc will finally be able to help Grace move out of her dorm at the University of Vermont on June 12th.

This past week they held a mock college graduation for their son Ryan and their daughter Megan’s boyfriend Carlos.  Holly’s father did a great job with the commencement speech.
