Dave Hannan announced that Fred Pirelli, former Mayor of Newark, had died.  Present Mayor, Jonathan Taylor, had recently recognized Fred Pirelli with a Paul Harris Fellow.

healthy moment

Grace Norcott is reading a LARGE (570page) book - “How Not To Diet”.

The answer to “what makes you feel fuller - water or veggies?” is VEGGIES!

You could eat 4 cups of asparagus to equal the calories in a 2” Brownie!

First of all - Who ever heard of a two inch brownie? At our house we eat them right out of the pan - NO MEASURING! I think I better read her book.

Gary the Joker

Club Picnic

Weather permitting, the Club Picnic will be held at the Hicks Home on Gurnee Road, Sunday August 30th at 3:00.  We hope you will feel comfortable to be on our deck with 25 of your closest friends.  We have 10 acres so you CAN social distance!  Wear a mask if you want, but of course eating and drinking might make that impossible.  Bring what you want to eat and drink - our grill is available.

GOOD NEWS

Michele will be providing one of her yummy cakes!!

BTW I have hoola-hoops available for anyone who wants to compete with Lucina.  Bean-bag Toss, Croquet, and frisbee games are also available.  We have a large pond - bathing suits are optional.

Happy Moments

Bob Bendix was happy  to announce that their daughter, Aubrey has been sent to Vancouver - working on 2 films.  She and Greg will be there through November. Greg is working for Disney.

Melissa Correia is pleased that their son traveled safely across the country from North Carolina to California.  He was able to celebrate his 21st birthday in Las Vegas.

Fred Hicks was happy to hear from his son Michael in NYC.  Michael normally plays the piano for people auditioning on Broadway.  Broadway has been dark during the pandemic.  He has recently been hired to teach vocal music and tap dancing at a small college in Missouri.

Jean Williams is pleased to announce the wedding of her grandson.  He is in the Army and will be leaving for South Korea in November.

Speakers - BLM Committee

Karen Quartaro introduced Adam Fryer and Allauna Overstreet as members of the Black Lives Matter committee in Geneva NY.

Their mission is PEOPLE HAVING PEACEFUL PROTESTS.

The group was founded the week after George Floyd died.

Changes they hope to accomplish -

1.  More transparency

2.  A new police budget

3.  Funding for Social Services

4.  Whistle - blower policy

5.  No armed guards or guns in schools

Adam reiterated - THEY ARE NOT ANTI POLICE

Alluana works with children of color.  She hears from parents who do not feel comfortable talking to police who seem to be disrespectful.

When Adam was younger he was a victim of police misconduct.  He notes that you can’t go to the police to police themselves.

It’s time to look into WHY people are angry.

and a little humor...
