Rotary is going strong in 2025, as we see many of you each Thursday in spite of the weather.
January was eventful, with visits from Isabella Humphrey, Kathleen Cornwell and Bob Ohmann to make our meetings interesting. February promises the same, when Laci Graham, Christine Stalker, Bianca Ensman and Holly Kreuser will inform us about things important to us right here at home.
We are looking forward to participating in a food distribution event on February 6th and 7th at the Newark High School as a part of our District Grant that is focused on this year’s theme of addressing local food insecurity.
February will also see us collecting supplies for the Laurel House Comfort Care Home. Plus, we will be preparing for our Newark Rotary Salute to Veterans on March 1st.
We hope that you support what we do as a club. We welcome any ideas or suggested changes that you may have. Let’s stay focused on our mission and have some fun along the way.
We wrote cards to veterans that we will present on March 1st during our "Salute to Veterans".
We recognized Paul Harris Fellow recipients, including Lucina Hallagan and Russ Harris.
Isabella practiced her speech for the District Oratorical contest. We acted as judges and wrote suggestions for her as she prepared for the contest on February 1st.
Doug Doebler brought Sylla to the January 22nd meeting. He gave us an update on the orphanage in Haiti and thanked us for our support through our Queen of Hearts raffle.
And the Queen of Hearts raffle pot continues to grow! Bob Bendix promised that the Queen of Hearts is in the deck!
Bob Ohmann spoke to us last week about the Ohmann Theater in Lyons and the Newark Pilots baseball team. We enjoyed his presentation and learned what prompted him to invest in both ventures.
We meet at the Newark American Legion. We also make our meetings available via Zoom. If you are not a club member and wish to watch us on Zoom, please email us for the link. All are welcome to attend our in-person meetings.
