President Karen Quartaro called the meeting to order on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 12:06 pm at the American Legion. Dave Christler led the invocation and pledge. Hannelora Reinhardt was the Sgt. at Arms.
Our Greeter, Helmuth Reinhardt, introduced our visitors. Visiting Rotarians were: PDG Bill Gormont from the Greece club; Assistant DG Pam Dean from the Palmac Club; and Mike Smith from the Dundee club. Jeff Gould, guest of President Quartaro, was our lone guest.
President Quartaro’s Fine Person for the Week was Marc Kreuser.
President Quartaro presented Jeff Gould a giant $1000 check for Honor Flight. The club board recently voted to award the $1,000 grant to Honor Flight to aid their work with veterans.
Mike Smith, President of the Dundee Rotary Club, said his club was conducting a raffle fundraiser for a "Book Case" project the club organizes. Members of the Dundee club build and give away book cases to local children.
Susie Earl said the Wayne County Business Council was organizing a "Meet and Greet" next week with our new State Senator, Pam Helming.
Kimberlee Meeks announced the Village will be holding a Snow Sculpture Contest throughout the month of February. You can win $100!
Adam Olschewske encouraged everyone to nominate people in need of roofs for Marshal Exteriors' "No Roof Left Behind" give-a-way. You can nominate someone at this website: https://noroofleftbehind.com/program/ny/1285
Service: Jan Hence asked for a donation of a bottle of wine for our auction (it goes with a wine holder prize--not because Jan personally likes wine. She likes beer).
Hill Cumorah: Doug Forgue met last week with the other partner clubs. He said this year we will not provide the Saturday cash lunch. The pageant is July 13-21 this year.
Membership: Kevin Mooney reminded everyone the next Membership meeting is coming up on February 14 at Parker's at noon. They will review Trudy Hicks' application. He also reminded everyone that the District Assembly Training sign-up was going around. He asked everyone, volunteering or not, to fill the sheet out.
PR: Graham Tedesco-Blair encouraged businesses to purchase an ad for the Assembly program.
Foundation: Fred Hicks announced that the Foundation Lunch is March 26 at noon at the Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor. It costs $30 per person.
Queen of Hearts: Sue Colacino did not draw the Queen.
DistrictGovernor-Nominee-Designate, Dave Hannan introduced our presenter, PDG Bill Gormont. Bill discussed the wonderful work Rotary International embarks on.
