Can you believe it's August already? July was a busy and productive month, and there’s so much to recap!
Throughout July, we hosted a successful food drive for the Newark Food Pantry. As many of you know, summer brings increased demand at the pantry while school is out, making our month-long contributions especially meaningful. And true to form, you all stepped up—filling a van every single week with the pantry’s most-needed items. Thank you for your generosity!
We also had a couple of wonderful outings in July. On July 5, several Rotarians braved the heat and enjoyed a fun evening at the Red Wings game. The night ended on a high note with a Red Wings win, a fantastic RPO performance, and fireworks!
Then on July 18, we had a great time at the Newark Pilots game. Huge thanks to the Taylors for organizing the outing. We enjoyed great fellowship, sold a raffle ticket, and witnessed a 10–0 Pilots win!
In addition to our service and events, we hosted several excellent speakers at our weekly meetings. If you haven’t been able to join us at our Thursday noon meetings recently, please consider stopping in. We miss seeing you, and it’s always a great opportunity for good food and even better company.
Speaking of giving, the Silent Auction Committee “passed the hat” and collected over $300 to purchase items for this year’s Newark Rotary Family Festival auction baskets. As a reminder, last year’s auction raised more than $3,000—so thank you again for helping us build toward another great year.

The Newark Rotary Family Festival is just around the corner—Saturday, August 23! Between planning and execution, we’re all busy bees, but the effort will be well worth it.
Please, please consider volunteering to help make this day possible. We have lots of fun activities planned: kids’ games, crafts, live music, delicious food, and more! And don’t forget—our raffle has a $4,000 grand prize. If you haven’t purchased your ticket yet, now is the time. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it powers all the great work we do for our community.
Let’s keep the momentum going and make August another month to be proud of!
