President Karen Quartaro called the meeting to order on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 12:05 P.M. at the American Legion. Mitch Ruffalo led the invocation and pledge. Sue Colacino was the Sgt. at Arms. .

Our Greeter, Chief Dave Christler introduced our visiting Rotarians and our guests. PDG Linda Winter joined us form the Rotary Club of Baguio City, Philipines, and Mike Kenyon joined us from the Canandaigua Rotary Club. Our guests were: Chris Bell, guest of Dave Hannan; Chris Thomas, guest of the club; Mckenna Middlebrook, guest of Marc Kreuser; and Suzette Nadeau, guest of Joe Van Haelst.

Bob Goodman went through spinal surgery at Rochester General Hospital this week. He is expected to remain there for the rest of the week and will enter rehab immediately after.

President Quartaro’s Fine Person: Sami Cepulo

Jan Hence said last week we needed 30 more volunteers for Hill Cumorah. Now we only need five. Jan thanked the many members who stepped up to volunteer. She said some members have signed-up for multiple spots, taking more than their fair share and urged anyone who has not signed-up to sign-up for one of the remaining five slots.

President Quartaro reminded club members that club dues should be in by the end of June for the 2017-2018 Rotary Year. If you plan to resign from the club, please send us a written resignation.

Kimberlee Meeks announced the Wine and Arts Festival at the Port of Newark on Friday, June 16 at 5:30pm. Tickets are available at Wegmans, Through Rotary, or at the festival.

Service: Gary Reilly reminded everyone that Rotary Rochester Red Wing Day is July 8 at 7:05pm. Our club auction is June 22. We need items to sell. Jan again thanked volunteers for signing up for Hill Cumorah. She reminded everyone to sell their Chicken BBQ tickets.

Camp Onseyawa: Marge Gile she had more Raffle Tickets for last Saturday's Golf Tournament to sell.

Happy Moments:

Bill Doebler said he recently brought a few items to the Antiques Road Show and would appear at the very end of the show.

Queen of Hearts: Kirk Baker gave the rest of us hope for another week by not drawing the queen.

Gale Chambers introduced last week's program presenter, Chris Thomas, Program Supervisor of Wayne Behavioral Health Network. Chris discussed the opioid epidemic in Wayne County. He said 1/3 of the substance abusers they deal with are opioid addicts.
