20-21 Kick-off Meeting

Lucina gave an inspiring invocation and led us in the pledge, showing a virtual flag from her computer.

wellness report

Pat Albrecht was zooming from the home of Michele McManus - following pandemic guidelines of masks and social distancing.  She and her husband are doing better.

Karen Dean’s son is receiving Chemo - being admitted for every round and hoping to be home on July 4th.

Sharon SanAngelo was at a follow up appointment on Thursday.  She is happy with her back surgery progress so far.

Michele is still suffering from a wrenched back.  Happy that her pool is open for soaking in this heat.

Ed Fenyn is home with the aid of visiting nurses.

healthy moment

New this year, we will be getting healthy tips each week from Grace Norcott.  Grace is a  health coach and a personal trainer.  Many of us agreed that Covid 19 was our chance to gain 19 pounds!

A helpful hint was to change your snacking habits. If you always sit in the same place to watch TV and have a dish of ice cream - Sit in a different chair (good luck with that)!

Prepare some fruit for breakfast the night before so you will be ready to eat healthy. No cocoa puffs FRED!

club announcements

Gary led the announcements with his ‘joke of the week’ , all the way from a friend in Australia.  People around the world know about Gary’s sense of humor!

He also reminded us again of the Golf Tournament on August 14th at Silver Creek, raising funds for Camp Onseyawa.

Steve Mooney announced the Rotary Scholarship winners - Julia Kellogg and Emily Tang who were presented these scholarships at the outdoor graduation ceremony.

Two seats on the board were filled by Jean Bendix for 2 years and Russ Harris for 1 year.

happy moments

Jean Williams is happy that her neice is home following brain surgery.  Her grandson’s father-in-law is making progress at home following his fall from a tree.

Peter Blandino, one of our newest members, was happy to get a call from Holly that reminded him to attend our annual Blood Drive.  We are all happy for his participation.

Lucina, JJ, Peter, Paul and Jean checked off a red badge duty and sang happy birthday to this months Rotarian’s.

meet the new ri president

Dave Hannan referred to the letter in our latest ROTARIAN magazine from the new RI president, Holger Knaack.  He is the first president we have had from Germany. Hopefully we can all meet him at the Eastern Cities Dinner on October 23rd.

This year’s motto is ROTARY OPENS OPPORTUNITIES.

“Every great challenge is an opportunity for renewal and growth.”

“The Covid 19 crisis has forced all of us to adapt.”  The challenge is to remake Rotary for these times and be a part of the digital world.

PRESIDENT DONNA'S MESSAGE

Donna is humbled to serve in this unique year of health and economic uncertainty. She feels that we must drive ahead and adapt or change. The community needs us more than ever. We may have to come out of our comfort zone.

In upholding our motto of Service above Self, Donna has three goals for her upcoming year.

1. Establish local partnerships

2. Diversify

3. Provide after hour plans with family
