We just closed out July and what a wonderful month that was for our Club and District 7120. District Governor Lisa Norwood threw out the first pitch at the Red Wing Stadium and declared her term to be one of “Lasting Impact”, and so it has been thus far. We can be very proud of our Club and the work we did in July to set that tone. Michele McManus once again organized a food drive to restock the Newark Food Closet and without a doubt Newark Rotarians came through by providing scores of bags and canned goods for those most in need. And it was not just one week, but it was four (4) weeks of generous giving. We should all be aware of what was accomplished and how providing this sometimes lifesaving food may improve or alter a child or adult’s life in such a positive way. Thank you for all you did.
August, of course, is a very busy month for Newark Rotarians as many of us try to squeeze in that last vacation. However, to Norma Madayag-Reilly, it means Newark Fest is nearly here and as the Chairperson of the Newark Fest Committee, Norma has spent countless hours preparing to make this major event a success. But Norma is not alone as Michele McManus once again organizes the Silent Auction and Jan Hence misses countless hours of sleep worrying about making a profit from the Newark Fest Raffle. Then we have Holly Kreuser who successfully organized the FLX Satellite Club and has brought them into the realm of fund raising by introducing them to the Family Fest with a Dunk Tank and 50/50 drawing.
Rotarians, it is all fun but takes a lot of planning and of course, HELP. I am told we are still sixteen (16) volunteers short to fill necessary positions at Newark Fest, so as we begin this wonderful month of August, contact Marc Kreuser and pick up one of the two (2) hour blocks still unfilled. Our Club needs you, Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
We meet at the Newark American Legion. We also make our meetings available via Zoom. If you are not a club member and wish to watch us on Zoom, please email us for the link. All are welcome to attend our in-person meetings.
