Last week we had over 45 participants in our virtual Newark Rotary meeting. Matt Horne of the MRB Group spoke to us about Newark's 2020 application for the DRI.
President Holly led the meeting and started us with an invocation. She announced that it was National PB&J Day. We were on our own to make a sandwich!
It was also Name Your Favorite Celebrity day. As you can see below, most of us came prepared with names of our favorite celebrities.
Thank you to all who participated in our meeting!
If you can read this bulletin, you can participate in our next virtual Rotary meeting being held on Thursday 12:00 PM. Below is the information on how to join:
If you have a smartphone or tablet, download the Zoom app from the App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. Then, just enter the meeting number.
You will be on mute during the meeting to prevent background noise while President Holly or other speakers are talking. Otherwise, you will be unmuted.
Wellness Report
Sharon SanAngelo’s back surgery has been postponed. She is waiting to hear of a new date and back to taking her pain meds.
On The Road and Face Masks
John Zornow joined our ZOOM meeting from his car. As one of “Hallagan’s Healthcare Helpers”, John was delivering face masks. They have 50 volunteer sewers in Newark. Jean Bendix demonstrated the art of mask making. She is up to 6 minutes per mask - a talent we didn’t know she had. Thank you Jean and all the others who are helping during this pandemic!! The masks are going to Newark and Clifton Springs Hospitals.
Newark Rotary donated $3,000 towards the cost of the material being used for the masks.
Hallagan's is using polypropylene material to make the masks. The masks can be cleaned and reused.
Jean Bendix gave an example of a completed mask. Jean is one of the many sewers assembling the masks in their homes.

Speaker - Matt Horne
This is the 5th year that 10 area regions have applied for monies under the Downtown Revitalization Initiative program. Matt has a degree in engineering and has helped other towns with this project. They are looking for a community that is most ready with projects utilizing $10 million. We will look for a speaker to give a face to face presentation in Rochester. We can all help by doing the on-line survey under the village website. Please e-mail Holly with any questions.
