President's Announcements
President Holly welcomed us to our 8th virtual Rotary meeting. Monday was Dave Hannan’s birthday (May the fourth be with you) which we quite often celebrate at a Rotary conference. Thanks to Jean Bendix the tradition of birthday Underoos lives on! We were all disappointed that Dave refused to model!
President Holly asked us all to share what we are doing under quarantine by bringing a unique item to the next Zoom meeting - Show and Tell!
Club Announcements/Happy Moments
Kevin Mooney reminded us that our club dues of $160 are due again. Congratulations to Donna Johnson - first to pay for this year, even before the reminder came out ! This can be taken care of on the Club Website.
Linda Werts announced that the mobile pantry is on hold until further notice.
Gary Reilly announced that the decision to hold this year’s Camp Onseyawa golf tournament will be announced on May 15th.
Holly was pleased to give a generous Rotary check of $317 to the Free Lunch Program.
Don’t forget to order your Mother’s Day Dinner from Nana!
Wellness Report
Dave Albrecht’s surgery to correct an eye problem was actually removing a tumor on his pituitary gland. He is recovering and sleeping a lot.
We were all quite saddened with the news that Jan Hence lost her sister and nephew in a recent accident. Both of these Rotarians will appreciate our cards of condolence.

Speaker - Unified Sports
Superintendent Matt Cook is very proud of Newark High School’s participation in this program. We are the only school in Wayne county out of 26 schools. He referred to Unified Sports as the most uplifting program in the public school system.
Chris Corey is Newark High School’s Athletic Director. He explained that the unified basketball program involves students with and without disabilities.
Student Lauren McTaggert said she might be too short for basketball but loves participating on this team that is ALL INCLUSIVE.
We watched a video and heard from the Basketball coach Matt Groot. Students Coty and Micah love shooting hoops and making friends. They especially remember how exciting it was to play at the Blue Cross Arena.
