Good news - Jean Williams is out of quarantine. She was closing her camp and unable to join us on Thursday.
Michele McManus reported on her sister who is not contagious but still testing positive for Covid-19. She is still very tired and has a sore throat. 75% of her taste and smell have returned.
HEALTHY MOMENT
Grace Norcott was involved with her new job training and unable to join us with her weekly health advice. We wish her well in this new endeavor.
BAD-DAD JOKES
A short fortune-teller escaped from prison. Did you see that in the news? It was under the heading “Small Medium at Large”.
A person checks into a hotel for the first time in his life and goes to his room. Five minutes later he calls the front desk and says,”You’ve given me a room with no exit. How do I leave?” The desk clerk says, “Sir, that’s absurd. Have you looked for the door?” The person says, “Well there’s one door that leads to the bathroom, a second door that goes into the closet and a third door I haven’t tried because it has a

I wish there was a knob on the TV so you could turn up the intelligence. They have one marked “brightness”, but it doesn’t seem to work.

President Donna reported - Books for the World are still coming in. Collection ends on October 31st.
Michele McManus announced the Youth Services Committee will meet on October 27th at 12 PM.
In lieu of the money we might have collected for the Laurel House Gala please donate what you can. Michele has stamped addressed envelopes.

Jan Hence reported on our new fundraiser. The Chicken and Biscuit dinner will be held on November 8th at Nana’s. You can drive up and stay in your car. Send you ticket money to Jan. Everyone has received 3 tickets to sell.
Lucina Hallagan will be the facilitator for the Service Above Self virtual zoom event. Donna has printed the cocktail party recipes which also can be found on your email.
Karen Q. reminded us to bid high and bid often on the virtual silent auction items.
Project Christmas continues through November 14th. Gifts listed on the Tubman Holiday list will be going to girls 12-18 years old. LNB is the collection site.

Matt Cook, Superintendent of the Newark Schools announced that this would be his last meeting with Newark Rotary. He has accepted a new job with the Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES. He loved the Newark community and will miss our welcoming Rotary Club.
SPEAKER - GEORGE BASTEDO
Doug Forgue introduced our speaker. George has been Director of Emergency Management of Wayne County since 2007. As the Emergency manager, George is responsible for 911 calls, EMS services, ALS services and the Fire coordinator’s office. The department has 65 employees and a $6,000,000 budget. This year George received the New York State division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Commissioner’s Recognition Award of EMERGENCY MANAGER OF THE YEAR.
There are many areas of concern. In our region Lake Ontario can be a threat with the chance of flooding.
2020 will always be remembered for the pandemic of the corona virus. George reminded us that Covid-19 is far from over. Keep your homes stocked with wipes, paper towels and toilet paper but try not to binge buy.
Fire departments have seen a big change in operation. EMT drivers are faced with a lot more paper work before they can drop a person at the hospital.
