Matt Cook lives in Lyons with his wife, Anne. He is the Superintendent of Newark Schools. His reasons for joining Newark Rotary are to become better connected with the Newark Community, to help advance the mission of our public school system and to serve the wider Newark/Arcadia community.
The meeting was called to order by Newark High School Interact President, Megan Kreuser on Thursday, December 19, at 12:05 pm at the Quality Inn. The invocation and pledge to the flag were led by Spencer Edmonds.

Mary Jo's husband is back in the hospital. Adam's father-in-law has woken up. Please keep everyone in your prayers and let Bob Goodman know if anyone needs our prayers. Bob Goodman also reported that he got a new computer and isn't getting along very well with Windows 8.
There is no Rotary meeting on December 26. Jim Bush will entertain us with his magic on January 2. Please e-mail President John or Susie Earl if you are bringing guests to the January 2 meeting. John Tickner reported that 100 coats were collected in the coat drive. President John presented our server, Suzy, a Christmas gift and thanked her for taking such good care of us.
Steve Mooney presented the Charles Baldwin Scholarship check to Joe Gorsuch. This scholarship is in memory of Charles Baldwin and awarded to an outstanding graduating senior who exemplifies the motto of Rotary. Joe is attending SUNY Oswego.
Future Visions Fred is still taking donations for the Rotary Foundation. We have reached our monetary goal but we are only at 75% participation.

Hannelaora was drawn but she did not win the Queen of Hearts.
Frank got a Christmas card from the Reinhardts without postage. Greg's sales are up by 39%. Doug went to the Frozen Frontier hockey game with his son last weekend and Matt Cook's son got his license. Mitch embarrassed Joey by congratulating him on his Eagle Scout status. Tom Root is very proud of the Christmas Angels at the high school. Jean Williams' granddaughter prays to the Elf on the Shelf and Dr. Hannan's niece will be on Wheel of Fortune on Jan. 7.
Ian Tulloch spoke about his experience at RYLA last summer. He attended the leadership program at RIT with 25 other students. He participated in leadership activities over 4 days. He learned techniques to use while leading a group.
We were entertained beautifully by the Newark High School Jazz Choir directed by Jean Bendix.
