President Karen Quartaro called the meeting to order on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 12:05 P.M. at the American Legion.  Jean Bendix led the invocation and pledge.   Suzie Earl was the Sgt. at Arms. .

Our Greeter, Rochelle Morse introduced our visiting Rotarians and our guests.   Brian McConnell joined us form the Corning Rotary Club.  Our guests were: Grace Doebler, guest of Dave Doebler; and Suzette, guest of Joe Van Haelst.

Hannelora Reinhardt said Bob Goodman has been under the weather for a few weeks and will see a specialist soon who will, hopefully, give him the help he needs.  President Quartaro reported that she is recovering remarkably well, but needs to remember not to lift anything heavy.

President Quartaro’s Fine People: attendees of the District Conference
Our club received many awards at the conference: Honorable Mention for the club Facebook Page; 3rd place for Vocational Service for Community Readers; 3rd place for our Progressive dinner, 3rd Place for Youth Services for Family Fun Literacy; 2nd place for Attendance; 1st Place Literacy Award;; 1st Place for International Service for the project to bring a drinking fountain to a rural school in Mexico; 1st Place for Club Website.  And our Conference Display came in 2nd place.
 
Shelly Morse led the club singing “Happy Birthday” for June birthdays.  We also recognized June club anniversaries. 
 
Graham Tedesco-Blair auctioned off the Exempt Button for June to President Quartaro. 
 
Dr. David Hannan bought the exempt button for $20 last month because it was a bargain.  He also said he enjoyed the District Conference and appreciated the fact that Newark was only second to Canandaigua in attendance.  He also said he spent Memorial Day weekend at West Point for the wedding of his son.

Service: President Quartaro said we need many volunteers for Hill Cumorah.  Please sign-up to volunteer.  Jan Hence reminded everyone that the BBQ is coming up.  Please sell your tickets.  Red Wing Rotary Day

Foundation: We met our goal for 100% participation in Foundation.  Fred Hicks said today is his first day of retirement.  Congrats!
