HEALTHY MOMENT
Grace Norcott is the daughter of Ruth and Chuck Mann. Her father, Chuck, died 2 years ago of Alzheimers that he suffered with for 12 years. Contribute to a worthy cause and get some exercise by joining the Alzheimer’s walk in Newark or contribute to a walker. Ask Grace for details. Alzheimers is the 6th leading cause of death in America. There is no cure for Alzheimers but you can prolong your life and “LOVE YOUR BRAIN”! Participate in physical activities, take a class on-line, prevent head injuries, wear your seatbelt, eat healthy(2” brownies!), do puzzles and play games.

President Donna announced our Service Above Self Award ceremony will be a virtual cocktail party on Thursday, October 29th at 7:00 PM - No day meeting. Please send your favorite cocktail and appetizer recipes by October 16th. Donna will compile a recipe book and we will each make one for our ‘zoom party’.
Karen Quartaro explained that we will hold an online silent auction. The Reilly's have 2 baskets ready - more items are needed. The money goes to world polio.
Norma Reilly explained the highlights of our new corporate membership initiative. Companies, such as banks and schools, must have 200 employees to become corporate members. They will choose one employee to become a Rotary member with 3 alternates to help fulfill our attendance and fundraising qualifications. The alternates are not official members. The corporation will pay $320 to join and then make a yearly donation of $100 to the foundation. They will be involved in a service project every 6 months. Only the primary member can hold an office. Possible corporations considered thus far are Newark Wayne Hospital, Newark High School, ARC, and Hallagans.

The Skateboard park on East Ave by the Community Center is up and running. Mike Muscolino has a scooter and helmet ordered. We will all be anxious to witness this participation!
SPEAKER MARY JANE MILANO
Jean Bendix introduced our speaker who works with End of Life Care, Proxy forms and Donor Recovery - having first hand experience with her own son being a donor.
Mary Jane encouraged us all to consider being a donor - make your decision now to relieve your family from having to decide at time of death. There are 9000 patients waiting for transplants in NY state - 884 Upstate. If you consider donating, no medical evaluation is needed. You must be 16 or older and sign a consent form. Organs AND tissues can be recovered. One donor can save 8 lives.
