Jan Hence thanked the Fundraising Committee for all of their hard work. It was a great success. Make a special effort to thank Joey’s North Side or Bodine’s for all of their hard work selling tickets for the raffle. 2023 we sold 190 tickets; 2024 we sold 200 tickets. We netted $10,000 on the raffle.

Program: Bob Bendix introduced Robbin Bremer, Newark Economic Development Coordinator, and speaker Anne Wick who spoke on an organization called Warm Showers.
Many bicyclists like to bike our Erie Canal Trail or the Empire Trail. They need to find places to stay along the way in these very small towns. Warm Showers is an international organization. Through an app on your phone you can find people who are willing to host cyclist where they can provide a “warm shower” and a place to camp. The host can offer to let people stay inside in a spare bedroom, provide dinner or allow kitchen privileges.
If you join “Warm Showers” you must provide an online profile so that prospective hosts can determine whether or not to offer to host. Often there are single females or families looking for places to stay. Anne and her husband are the only registered Warm Showers hosts between Syracuse and Rochester, as a result they find that they host almost every week.
Hosts are not vetted by Warm Showers — however the reviews by guests provide enough feedback so that cyclists feel safe staying.
