As we enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, it’s a wonderful time to pause and reflect on the many blessings in our lives. Gratitude reminds us how much we have — from the friendships we share within our Rotary family to the opportunities we have to make a difference in our community and beyond.
This season also calls us to be generous — with our time, our talents, and our hearts. Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, captures the very spirit of this time of year. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, helps light the world around us. Our theme this year, Unite for Good , reminds us that together, we can accomplish far more than we can alone. As we look ahead to the busy holiday months, let’s continue to support one another, serve our neighbors.
Season of Giving — Serving with Thankful Hearts
As we enter this season of gratitude and generosity, let’s remember that Rotary’s spirit of Service Above Self shines brightest when we share our time, talents, and resources to help others.
Winter Coat Collection: Newark Rotarians will be collecting gently used winter coats to help keep our neighbors warm this season. Thank you to Jan Hence, who will be delivering the coats for distribution — a wonderful example of compassion in action.
Salvation Army Bell Ringing: Don’t forget to sign up for our annual Salvation Army Bell Ringing on Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29 . It’s a cherished Newark Rotary tradition — we may get a little chilly, but the fellowship and joy of serving together always warm our hearts!
Jack Blodgett Memorial Blood Drive: This year’s blood drive will also be held on Friday, November 28 . We invite everyone to participate — by donating blood, volunteering, or simply spreading the word. Together, we honor Jack’s generous spirit and continue his mission to Unite for Good .
As we move through this season of giving, let’s work together and remember the thankfulness and joy the Christmas season is truly about — serving others, spreading kindness, and uniting for good.
We meet at the Newark American Legion. We also make our meetings available via Zoom. If you are not a club member and wish to watch us on Zoom, please email us for the link. All are welcome to attend our in-person meetings.
