Rise against Hunger
People from the community including many Newark Rotarians gathered at the Episcopal church on the week-end of September 14th assembling thousands of rice packages to send around the world to people in need.
Literacy
September 8th was international literacy day. Kurt Werts proudly reported that our club participates in the dictionary project, literacy volunteers, the annual spelling bee and reading in the elementary schools.
Eastern Cities Dinner
All members were encouraged to get their reservations in for Sunday October 28th at the Rochester Convention Center. Early bird tickets are $55.
RLI
Norma Reilly encouraged members to attend this year’s annual meeting on leadership skills. Our club will send 6 members for free on November 3rd at the Palmyra High School.
Laurel House
Pat Albrecht has collected almost 800 L dollars. Sandy Devolder received 2 tickets to the Gala that were auctioned off for $75.
Yankee Candle
Jean Bendix is chairing this fundraiser with orders due on October 12th.
Mobile Pantry
President Linda thanked the Mobile Pantry workers serving 154 households and 337 individuals.

Service Above Self Dinner
October 18th we will have a Thursday night dinner in place of our Thursday lunch meeting.Dave Hannon reminded us that nominations are due.
District Simplified Grant and check presentation
Our grant this year is for a black-top project at Fireman’s field to improve the distribution at the Foodlink Mobile Pantry. Newark Rotary has committed $7000 to the project for which we will receive a $3500 District Simplified Grant. The check was presented to Rusty Havert, Newark’s Fire chief.
