During our open meeting we celebrated President Adam's 50th birthday, listened to two Rotary oratorical contestants and received updates from our committees.

Students Mikalya Miller and Shyanne Pilozzi each presented the speech they are preparing for the District 7120 Oratorical Contest. The Oratorical Speech Contest is based on the Rotary Four-Way Test.
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
Contestants are to present a five to seven minute speech on how they plan to live their lives based on the four-way test. Mikalya and Shyanne did a great job – they will now go back, based on the anonymous feedback the members provided and continue to work on their speeches.

Queen of Hearts — Steve Hallagan did not pick the Queen - the pot continues to grow.
Program:
- Community Service — Poinsetta’s were delivered to various Rotary Members we want to remember. Night to Shine 2/9/24 - $500 donation from Rotary - we are looking for helpers.
- International Service — International Partner with Turkey to purchase an incubator. Evie Taylor heading up partnering with Paper FIG. TABI clean water project - Donna Johnson will be taking a team down. From Called to Care in Canandaigua to Turkey to Uganda to Mexico we are supporting the world. Thank you.
- Fundraising - no report
- DEI - looking at local reactions to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
- Foundation — Rotary Foundation gives grants based on our contributions to help locally and around the world. $10,000 is our clubs goal, we have donated about $4800. Polio Plus - $3000 goal - we are almost there.
- Newark Family Festival — 9/7/24 - mark your calendars now.
- Literacy — we need a literacy chair
- Membership — focus is on member retention.
- Youth Services – so excited to be able to sponsor 2 students for the oratorical contest. We are still looking for a host family for Luis for the 3rd quarter (April, May, June).
- Newark Rotary Club Foundation — we have $28,000 available. we’ve given out 6,800 so far. Look for ways that our club can use this money to fulfill our mission: We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
