Last week we welcomed Josh Arnold to our club as our newest member and first new member for 2023.
Opening and Invocation led by PDG Dave Hannan.  We joined together to pray for Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin who is continuing to recover from a severe injury during the Monday Night football game.
PDG Dave had the opportunity to exchange trading banners with incoming district governors, who are in the Rochester area as part of the Milt Matthews program. Both trading banners are from India. Dave presented them to President Mitch.

New Member Induction
Josh Arnold, sponsored by Adam Olscheswke, was inducted as an active member of the club. Welcome to Newark Rotary Josh!
Linda Werts introduced Anne Morrell and Linda Prince from Night to Shine program.
Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow foundation, is a prom-like experience for individuals with intellectual and/or physical special needs.
Linda Prince shared her story about her developmentally challenged son, Jacob.  Linda has been advocating for her son his whole life. Once her son was too old to stay in the children's program at church,”,  she started a afternoon program for older teens and young adults,  called “Friendship.  During the pandemic she and her husband, and support team, they started creating activity boxes for individuals in group homes — they have approximately 86 boxes they send out once a month.
This program was noticed by the Tim Tebow Foundation, they launched “Night to Shine” at Cross Creek Church in Palmyra.
This year it will be on February 10, 2023.  There will be 120 honored guests who will be matched with a buddy to assist them in experiencing the photo booth, karaoke, hair, nail and make-up stations, catered food, limo rides and, of course, dancing!
The premiere moment of the evening is when each Honored Guest is personally introduced and crowned King or Queen! Leading up to the event, Honored Guests will be able to visit a decked out boutique where they can choose a dress or suit of their dreams, along with jewelry, shoes, and other accessories! The purpose of the evening is to let each of these precious individuals know how loved they are by us and by God.
Newark Rotary Club donated $500 towards this event.
  • If you want to be a buddy, you must attend training which will be on Sunday, 1/8/23 or on Monday 1/9/23.  You must be at least 16 years old
