At our last Rotary meeting we had guests from Newark and Poland, a speaker from Camp Onseyawa and the return of club member we have not seen in a long time.

Wellness
Dick Boerman, Newark Rotary Club Past President (1980-1981), recently passed away. Calling hours are July 26, 4-7 PM at Murphy’s funeral home and the funeral Mass is on July 27 at 11 AM at St. Michaels Church.
 
Announcements
  • Art Williams was happy to be going from “lawyering to county judge”.
  • Malwina, our future Rotary Youth Exchange student from Poland, joined us by Zoom from Poland. She is arriving on August 16th.
  • Holly Kreuser and Marc saw Grace graduate from the Army Advanced Camp in Ft Knox, KY. She then left for Galveston Island to intern with the Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Steve Taylor was welcomed back! He and Evie have become reluctant snowbirds in Florida (they actually kinda like it), are selling their house, and will move to Sodus Point.
  • Adam O – His wife is going to Orlando and he is happy to not be going!
  • Bob Bendix announced the first sponsorship for the Newark Rotary Family Festival with a sponsorship of $1,000 from Marshall Exteriors.
  • Pat Albrecht said that the Laurel House is going well. And she is still collecting L dollars!
Committee Announcements
Foundation - Scott Healy announced that our Rotary District has created the PolioPlus Society. See link for details.
Community – Adam said that Newark Rotary Salutes will take place during this Rotary year.
Membership – Adam said we have lots of prospects, who were all sitting at his table. Also, the Board approved Katie Pullen’s application for membership.
Public Image – Josh McCrossen said they are focused on Newark Rotary Family Festival with the goal of raising the knowledge of Rotary and the image presented to Newark and the area.

Wedding Anniversary
Steve and Evie spent three weeks in Hawaii to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this past spring.
 
Queen of Hearts
Steve was back and, of course, his number was drawn! But he was not lucky with Queen of Hearts.
 
Guest Speaker – Dawn Proper – Camp Onseyawa
Dawn has been a Camp Onseyawa participant and leader for over 40 years. This will be the last year the camp will be help at Babcock Hovey. The carnival is the second Sunday of Camp. All are invited all to participate and visit. The camp now has about 90 campers. It used to be about 140. Many current staff members are children of staff members.
