BAD DAD JOKES - GARY REILLY

COMPLIMENTS OF THE TIMES OF WAYNE

What did our parents do to kill boredom before the internet?

I asked my 26 brothers and sisters and they didn’t know either.

COMPLIMENTS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION MAGAZINE

I’m not clumsy, It’s just that the floor hates me, the tables and chairs are bullies and the wall gets in the way

I went to see the doctor about my short-term memory problems.  He made me pay in advance.

COMPLIMENTS OF MARYJO

My uncle was going to spend $2000 on a wig but he decided it was too much TOUPEE.

COMPLIMENTS OF AUSTRALIA

A teenager brings her new boyfriend home to meet her parents.  They are appalled by his haircut, his tattoos, his piercings.  Mom says, he doesn’t seem to be a very nice boy.  Oh please Mom, If he wasn’t nice, would he be doing 500 hours of community service?

The power point program was informative and of broad interest to our members.

In Wayne County 1 out of 5 surgeries are performed on people 75 years old and older.

The new approach to health care is all about considering aging.  Even as you age you can still be developing - “old age” should not be a negative.

Here are three simple rules to follow

1 Get enough sleep  2 keep moving  3 have a positive attitude

AGING WELL..SURPRISING GUIDEPOSTS TO A HAPPY LIFE - GEORGE VAILLANT

The overall aim of our hospitals is to have an age friendly health system.

The four M’s

MEDICATIONS - making sure they are complicit and don’t interfere with other drugs

MENTATION - be aware of mood disorders after surgeries - other changes and stress

MOBILITY - use it or lose it!

WHAT MATTERS MOST -Dr’s should talk to patients and ask what matter to them regarding all areas of their life.

The overall take away is that hospitals are working hard to improve communication with their patients, being aware of the needs of the older patient with the aim to reduce risk of complications.

Unity Hospital was the first to implement these goals and Wayne County is on the cutting edge.  The purpose is to get the patient back to normal activities with their families.

Next week is our change over meeting.  Beginning on July 1st we will be back at the American Legion in-person with a lunch buffet.
