Mike DeJohn passed away on February 28, 2021. His funeral was held on March 5th. Mike was a member of Newark Rotary for over 50 years, joining on December 1, 1970 and was sponsored by Vince Gentile.

Here are some comments from Dave Hannan and John Zornow about Mike:

Dave: I recall Mike driving the Mister Softee ice cream truck through the neighborhood when I was a kid, and he did home construction for Charlie Caboor and Tony DeJohn, as best I can recall. He did some of the work rebuilding my childhood home that was destroyed by fire in 1963. He was always kind to children. I was his doctor until I retired. We often talked about Rotary, as well as the community in general, since he was on the Arcadia Town Board when I was on the Newark Village Board. He was truly committed to bettering the community.

From John: Mike raised his family in the large home at 326 West Miller Street, just west of the Kelley School. It happens to be the same house that I grew up in. Mike and his family took excellent care of the "old homestead" that I was always proud of. Mike's grandson owns the house now and it continues to look great! For this I am grateful.
