- Presentation of Laurel House with a check for $3,500 in acknowledgement of all the good work they provide in the community. Thank you.
- Karen Hoad - upcoming blood drive: November 21 - Jack Blodgett memorial blood drive. Need volunteers to work the blood drive and/or to donate blood.
- Jan Hence - Historical Society hosting a chicken and biscuit, Sunday, October 23 — 11 to 2 at Nana’s. Tickets at the Library
- Malwina shared that she traveled to the Adirondack’s with the Kreuser’s - had a great time. She also participated in Spirit Week and Homecoming at the High School - had a great time. Participated in her first cheer leading competition. Received the All-League American Cheer Award. She will be selling tickets for a chicken and biscuit dinner as a fundraiser for the Cheerleading Squad on November 6.
- The Newark Rotary Board looking for avenues to donate money to support relief efforts in Florida and Puerto Rico in the aftermath of the recent hurricanes.
- Norma and Gary Reilly will be honored at our upcoming Service Above Self dinner on Thursday, 10/27 at 6:00 pm
- Scott Healy — reminder that eradication of Polio is a Rotary prime objective: 1. Throw spare change in Polio Plus jars on tables 2. District initiated a Polio Plus society for those who give $100 + per year. Recognized the following who have already joined the Polio Plus Society: Scott Healy, Linda Werts, Lucina Hallagan, Norma and Gary Reilly.

Clayton is a member of Newark Rotary and is from this area. He works with VanParys Insurance in Palmyra. He works to inform and help to prevent people from becoming victims of cyber crime.We need to be aware of how we can protect ourselves. Cyber crime has been on the forefront of the insurance industry about 10 years.
In 2020, due to COVID, millions of people began to work from home - as a result cyber criminals used this opportunity. Cyber crime increased over 50% from 2020 to 2021. Up to 25% of small business have been a victim of cyber crime, 50% of that 25% occurred in 2021.
Cyber crime target “low hanging fruit” — businesses that doesn’t keep their security measures up to date. Senior citizens (those over 60) lost more than 3 billion dollars due to financial scams
- Fraud and Identity Theft — online shopping fraud most common way senior citizens are victimized. Good adage: “if its too good to be true, it probably is true”
- Check to see if you have “Identity Theft Insurance” on your homeowners insurance - it can help you navigate the process.

- Check out a VPN address for your phone.
- Multi-Factor authentication prevents 99.9% of cyber crime.
- Run a credit report: Trans-Union, EquaFax, Experian
- Pay for a credit reporting service.
