Rotary Service Opportunity This June
Evie and Steve Taylor have been passionately supporting the Paper Fig non-profit which empowers women and girls in Uganda through fashion.   Several months back representatives came and gave a program at one of our meetings.  You may remember them.

A key fundraiser for Paper Fig involves Ron Voller riding from Manhattan to Niagara Falls and passing through Newark along the Canal Route.  Some of us met him last year as his stay over point coincided with our September Family Festival.

Well...this year he and a few other bike riders will be arriving in Newark on Friday, June 2nd and leaving the next morning.   Unfortunately Evie and Steve will not be in Newark on June 2nd to greet and welcome them.   But they are very much hoping Newark Rotarians might offer Ron and his crew a bed and breakfast homestay here in Newark.  So I, along with our community service committee, are asking you to consider this opportunity.

Would you open your home to guests arriving around 3:00 or 4:00pm on Friday, June 2nd?   and leaving sometime the next morning.

One home...for Ron Voller, his partner and her 8 year old son... 2 bedrooms (or Ron says he'll sleep on a couch)

Another home... for a mom and her 15 year old son.

Norma and Gary and I are offering to put together a dinner opportunity for Ron and his  Paper Fig fundraisers.   Possibly at a local church,  local restaurant,  or maybe one of you not wishing to offer a homestay may open your home to the group for dinner?

The "ask" is for you to consider this wonderful opportunity to serve by hosting, while at the same time learning more about Paper Fig's work empowering women and girls and demonstrating that our Newark Rotary Club steps up when an opportunity presents.

Looking for your responses as quickly as possible...
