Karen Quartaro was surprised with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition for her many contributions to Newark Rotary including, Past President, Membership Chair, DEI Chair, Sergeant-at-Arms and the Service Above Self Dinner amongst other contributions. Well deserved and congratulations!

  • Update from Malwina Plichta.  Moved to Holly and Marc Kreusers:  This week she has joined cheerleading, attended the inbound exchange student orientation, had a fun week.
  • The Newark Rotary was recognized by the Newark Central School District for our support to students and staff members.

Program: Open Meeting
  • Membership:  Adam O. – has some prospects in the works.
  • DEI:  Karen Q. – 1st meeting will be 2nd Tuesday of month at 3:30 via ZOOM
  • Fundraising:  Jan H. – need some items for silent auction.  Lasagna Dinner in November
  • Foundation:  Scott Healy – our club has donated $2,700 towards goals already this year.
  • International Service:  Linda Werts:  – Will be supporting Ukraine, International Night will be March 30, 2023 at the library, global grant with Istanbul Club is almost completed, continue to partner with Valladolid, Mexico
  • Public Image:  Josh M. – has been away for a month.  Had awesome travel experiences, but jokingly told us that he hasn’t done much with the committee
  • PR for Newark Fest:  Chuck Waterman – has signage on order, updating website, promised Gary Reilly will be in dunk tank!
    • Gary Reilly – has been distributing flyers all over
    • Norma Reilly – the festival is in 9 days!  We are almost ready – we still have 11 positions that need to be filled.  Report to your station at least 15 minutes early.  Please stay until everything is done if you have signed up for tear down.
    • Jim Weiler – we need some extra people for tear down.  Right now only 2 folks have signed up.
    • $19,350.00 in sponsorships! Thank you Adam O. for your hard work on this.
    • Wegmans giving us $250 to be used to for items we might need.
    • Dunk Tank – We need people who others would like to dunk – teachers, leaders in the community, etc.  contact Jean Bendix with names.
  • Nominating:  Norma Reilly – need to fill board members, and suggest future Presidents.  We give people the opportunity to learn to be President by lining them up 2 years ahead of time. If you are asked – PLEASE give it good consideration and learn about the position before you decide.
 
Reminder:  It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.
