We prepared for our first Newark Rotary Family Festival and we had two surprise guests.
 
Lucina Hallagan  gave us words of inspiration.

Debbie and Marina Ruffalo - special guests of Mitch – surprised Mitch for his and Debbie’s 38th wedding anniversary today.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Wellness Report 
David Hannan - PDG Jeff Krans was in the hospital recovering from an illness.
 
Dana Marsh - was in hospital, is in home now and resting. His wife, Tabor is continuing to decline – they would appreciate cards and prayers.
 
Announcements:
  • Update from Malwina Plichta.  Started school this week – taking some art courses and enjoying them.  Only got lost once.  Last weekend went to Pittsburgh with the Mallach’s and attended a Renaissance Festival – really enjoyed it.
  • Linda W. - is taking over the literacy chair. Today is International World Literacy Day – Fill out survey asking what we are currently reading.
  • Gary R. - save the date – 10/16 – Camp ONSEYAWA dinner
  • The Reilly’s will be selling raffle tickets to include:  Smart TV, Mirbeau Weekend, and more
  • Karen Q. - Service Above Self Dinner will be $30.00, 10/27. Dave Hannan is taking nominations
  • Jim W. – re: Family Fest Chair, a BIG thank you to Norma. There are a couple of volunteer openings - see Norma.  We are ready to roll with this Festival!  Great weather and a good time guaranteed.
  • We went down a rabbit hole surprise – President Mitch thanking Bob B. for stepping up at Ruffalo’s
  • Back to the Festival – update from Norma
    • T Shirts are available – will be at the information booth and at Holly and Marc’s office. 
    • Adam O – $19,950 sponsorship monies
    • Many dignitaries are lined up to be in the Dunk Tank
  • Update from Mayor Jonathon Taylor – Marshall’s opened up in the Plaza - grand opening. Very exciting. 80 new jobs! Marshall’s donated $10,000 to the Survivors Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes
  • Jan H. – looking for some help to transport items for the Silent Auction.
  • We need ZOOM operators – we will train.
  • Steve Taylor – while cleaning out his house to list it, he discovered a 9 to 10 feet inflatable boat, never used, he’ll donate it for the Silent Auction. (His dream of using it with a SEAL Team never came to fruition. wink)
 
Happy Moments:
  • Kevin M. – he and Lynn took a vacation to Ireland - beautiful weather - it was wonderful.
  • Scott H. - Syracuse dominated Louisville and Virginia Tech were “crushed”
  • Mitch introduced his daughter Marina to give us an update on her life.  She lives in Raleigh, NC is an Occupational Therapist – life is good for her.
  • Doug F. – tonight is the first game for the Bills journey to the Super Bowl.
