At our last meeting, the Newark Rotary Foundation donated $1,000 to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 122 to help the unit with repairs to their trailer.

Wellness Report – Sharon SanAngelo - her surgery was last Tuesday, she is doing well and surgery went well; Sue Colacino - suffering from back pain; Helmuth and Hannelora - doing well, Adam had a nice visit with them; Holly - Ted O’Toole was hospitalized due to an abdominal aneurism; Jeanne Salisbury fell and is at Strong, broke her neck and is badly bruised.

- In Indiana - it is illegal to pass a horse on a public street

- In Fort Madison, Iowa — the fire department is required to practice fire fighting for 15 minutes before they attend an actual fire

- Correction from last weeks bulletin: April 18, 1942 was not the dropping of an atomic bomb. It was Doolittle’s Raid on Tokyo, the first strike of conventional weapons on Japan in WWII, and a huge morale booster 4+ months after Pearl Harbor. The atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were in August, 1945. Thank you Dave Hannan for the correction.

- Cash Raffle — $100 per ticket - it is an easy way to fundraise. Last year we made $9,000 verses $6,000 in previous years at Hill Cummorah - which required 8 days of work. So, please share on Social Media platforms, put up a poster in your retail place of business and be willing to sell a few tickets, ask your friends and neighbors if they are interested. Groups can go in together and split the prize money.

- International Meeting on May 9th - guest speaker will be Jade Myers “Out on a Limb: a story of resilience and refuge” — don’t miss this wonderful presentation.

Presentation to the Boy Scouts - Adam presented Boy Scout Troop 122 with a $1,000 check to be used to repair their trailer.
Program: Our Rotary Youth Exchange Student Luis presented his speech that he will give to the District 7120 Conference on April 27th. With his dry sense of humor, Luis recounted his experience of being turned away unexpectedly at the Canadian border when trying to catch his flight to Hawaii. This experience, along with many others, has transformed Luis to a self-confident and mature young adult. He was selected by the district Youth Exchange Committee to speak on behalf of all exchange students at the conference. Great job Luis!
