Program: Scott Healy introduced Dan Ireland, President and Chief Operating Officer of Rochester Regional Hospital Finger Lakes Rural Hospital group.
Dan started his career as a nurse, working as an emergency room nurse. Dan spoke about how the health care industry was impacted by the COVID era (2020 - early 2023). The health care industry saw the largest number of professionals leave the industry.
Our health system recognized that rural communities health care needs are different than large urban areas. The cost of attracting and keeping skilled nurses has been a large part of the success we are seeing in improving our entire health care system.

Newark Wayne Community Hospital continues to strive to live into their mission statement: they have received a 2nd Gold Standard Award, are a Stroke Center of excellence, and received a Blue distinction for their Maternity Unit. They also continue to increase their employee satisfaction scores. Dan concluded with the observation that he feels our health care system has a bright future, that they will continue to improve in all areas of patient care and employee satisfaction.
