We held an open meeting last Thursday and welcomed back Rotarians we have not seen in a while.
 
Invocation was given by Jean Bendix, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test.

Wellness
Jean Salisbury was moved to a care facility in Largo, FL. Paul reported she is feeling frustrated.
We were sad to  learn that Ken George’s grandson, Daniel, passed away unexpectedly yesterday.
 
Announcements
  1. Lynn Mooney was selling tickets for the Newark Rotary Foundation raffle. Tickets are $100 each.
  2. Mitch thanked everyone who signed the letter to support the new hotel and conference center  in Newark.
  3. The Erie Canal and Route 88 cleanup will take place on April 22. We will meet in front of The Arc at 9 AM. Those participating in the Route 88 cleanup will meet in front of Cornell Coop.
  4. Gary Reilly spoke about the Camp Onseyawa Golf Tournament on June 10.
  5. Michele McManus asked people to sign up for the Rotary Foundation Silent Auction at the District Conference.
  6. Norma spoke about the District Conference. The location will be in Bloomfield and the cost will be much lower than in past conferences.
  7. Norma also spoke about the District Training Assembly on April 22.
  8. Linda recognized Laura Snyder, who thanked the club for the Newark Rotary Salutes at the hospital. Laura passed around thank you notes from workers at the hospital.
  9. Bob Goodman Blood Drive will take place on April 26. Volunteers are needed.
  10. Jean is interested in organizing a group to clean the canal banks with kayaks. The commitment is from Newark to Macedon. Susie Earl was the first volunteer.
  11. Malwina moved to her third host family. Last week she and her host family went to Washington, DC. The saw cherry blossoms, visited museums and the Library of Congress. She is staying with the Visingard family and lives in Mary Jo’s old house.

1. What happens on July 1st every year? A new Rotary year begins.
2. How does one become board member? A nominating committee selects candidates and the election is held during the annual meeting in December.
3. What is Camp Onseyawa? It’s a camp for children with disabilities sponsored by Rotarians in Ontario, Seneca, Yates and Wayne counties.
