Announcements:
- Michele McManus shared about the Oratorical Contest. Shyanne Polissi tied for 4th in the finals. Congratulations to both contestant.
- Rotary Salutes — We are in full swing as of March 1st. We are honoring the Newark, Port Gibson, Fairville and Marbletown Fire Departments; the Newark Police Department and the NAVA
- Linda Werts — Wayne County Literacy Volunteers annual Bee-cathlon — it would be great for our Newark Rotary Club to have a team to participate.
- We have an opportunity to apply for a district grant. We are looking for ideas for something that would improve Newark or our area. Things we have done in the past: Pavilions in the park, work at Laurel House, etc. One possible suggestion is to support the Wayne County Arcadia Society
- Lacy Graham at Laurel House - shared that the swim team had an informal fundraiser for Laurel House - the swimmers that shaved their heads for sectionals gathered sponsors and raised a total of $3,000.00 for Laurel House. Great kids!
Happy Moments:
- Scott Healy - Syracuse beat Virginia Tech! We all need to remember that the Virginia Tech fan needs to pitch into the kitty for that loss. (The VT fan can remember when SU beating VT in basketball was not a big deal!)
- Karen Hoad - was happy that her power is back on - also announced that Reliant’s hours are changing.
- Evie Taylor - Steve and Evie made a Happy Moment contribution via mail for a lovely cruise Evie took with a friend, had grandchildren visiting, sending Steve up north to be with us next week.
- Gail Chambers shared their puppy is still training and is looking old newspapers!
- Dave Tyler - his son’s new house is finally finished and is moving into it after staying “short term” with Dave (2 years)
