Former Mayor and Paul Harris Fellow recipient Fred Pirelli passed away last week. Newark Rotary honored him about two years ago.
About 2 years ago, Newark Rotary, on a suggestion by former village trustee Kurt Werts, honored former Newark mayor Fred Pirelli with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition. After retiring from the village board, LTC (Ret.) Pirelli continued to advocate for veterans, MIAs, and families of the military both past and present. Current Mayor Jonathon Taylor proclaimed that day to be Fred Pirelli Day. Mr. Pirelli died earlier this week and village flags fly half mast in his honor.
