Susan Hasenaur and Ed Gnau, representing Newark Central School District, will not be visitors after today. The Newark Central School District is our newest corporate member. Bella was a guest of Scott Healy and Doug Forgue. Ken George brought his daughter Julie Nevelizer. It was nice to see Maurie and Jean Strobrige again.

Tim Johnson reported that Alex Quku is home following a work related accident with a wood chipper.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION
It’s official - Newark High School is our 2nd corporate member. Susan Hasenaur and Ed Gnau represented the Newark Central School District with alternates (unable to join our meeting) Christa and Nick. Russ Harris is their sponsor.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
PAT ALBRECHT was pleased to be back and capable of doubling our attendance by merely removing her glasses! She thanked Rotarians for contributing to the Laurel House’s new deck furniture and continuing to turn in many L dollars.
GAIL CHAMBERS invited us to join the volunteers making our village beautiful from 9-12 on Saturday AM May 22nd. 1,200 flowers will be planted.
LINDA WERTS invited us to also attend the Book Sale on Saturday at the South Main Emporium to benefit Laurel House.
MICHELE MCMANUS was excited to announce that Linda Werts has volunteered to be the Rotaract Advisor. Youth Committee is meeting on the 26th at noon.
The Club Picnic will be held on Sunday, August 22nd at HICKS PARTY-CENTRAL 55 Gurnee Rd. Games, food and great conversations - get to know the people you only wave at weekly. Details to follow.
Save the date - October 23rd at the Sodus Bay Heights Country Club. The annual Gala to benifit Laurel House will be In-Person with dinner, dancing and an extensive silent auction. Tickets are $100 a person. The GALA GIRLS are beginning to acquire corporate sponsors.
DOUG FORGUE - No further pageants will be held at Hill Cumorah. Bob Yost and Jan Hence chair a committee to hold an auction of items used at the concession stand. The money will be split between 4 clubs.
GARY REILLY reminded us to contribute to the Golf tournament that benefits Camp Onseyawa. All tables received info and sponsorship forms.
We are in need of a Board member to replace Jean Bendix. It is a one year commitment as Administration Chairperson.

JORGE was also happy to announce that his daughter attending SUNY Cortland has a 3.6 grade point average.
HOLLY gave credit to Rotary for their son Ryan’s newly acquired position as a Grad-assistant working with Study-abroad students at Nazareth. Their daughter Grace is also no slacker with a 3.4 looking ahead to med school.
CLEAN WATER PROJECT
Linda Werts and Paul Salisbury reported on the mission called LIVING WATERS FOR THE WORLD. They have both been involved for many years, traveling to Mexico most recently to place drinking fountains at elementary schools.
This year’s team of 17 includes Rotarians Alicia Vasquez, Donna Johnson, Paul Salisbury and Linda Werts. Members visited Tabi through a 6 hour zoom meeting.
A new fundraiser “BUY A PART” is attempting to raise $15,000.
Newark Rotary is partnering with Living Waters for the World to bring clean water, sanitation, and economic development to the rural community of Tabi in Quintana Roo, Mexico. The “BUY A PART” fundraiser is for system equipment. This is not an auction. It is a buy now, at the listed price, fundraiser. You can of course send a donation in any amount to Newark Rotary POB 374, Newark NY directed to the “Tabi project”.
We all take clean water for granted. Linda would love for more Rotarians to join her in traveling to Mexico in December for this worthwhile project.
